General strike: how public transport will move today


Confusion the day before with the participants of the panhellenic strike on September 21 stumped the citizens of Greece. Today it became known who joined it and who will work as usual, this is especially important for public transport:

METRO: does not work

CITY ELECTRIC TRAIN (ΗΛΕΚΤΡΙΚΟΣ): does not work.

BUSES: Functioning normally.

TROLLEYBUSES: on line from 9 am to 9 pm, stops from the beginning of the shift until 9 am and from 9 pm until the end of the shift.

TRAM: works from the beginning of the shift until 13:30, stops from 13:30 until the end of the shift.

O.S.E. – SUBURB (ΟΣΕ – ΠΡΟΑΣΤΙΑΚΟΣ): work stops from 21:00 to 00:00.

KTEL: operate normally.

VESSELS: Some routes will not be executed.

Employees of the Organization urban transport of Thessaloniki (OASTH) are also stopping operations – buses will stop from the beginning of the shift until 8:00 and from 21:00 until the end of the shift.

Flights to/from Greek airports will proceed as usual, as the strike by the Hellenic Air Traffic Controllers Union (EEEKE) was declared illegal.

The following people joined the general strike:

  1. Teachers and professors educational institutions.
  2. Doctors Association hospitals of Athens-Piraeus.
  3. Sailors: Panhellenic Union of Merchant Marines ΠΕΝΕΝ, Panhellenic Union of Merchant Marine Engineers, Panhellenic Union of Lower Motor Crews EN “STEPHENSON” and Panhellenic Professional Union of Cooks E.N.

In the announced ΑΔΕΔΥ 24-hour national strike workers and employees, and at planned rallies, trade unions will demand the withdrawal of the labor bill. They call for participation in meetings across the country. The protest rally in Athens will take place in Klatmonos Square at 10.30.
