Markopoulo: the driver sacrificed himself to avoid a woman with a child (video)

Appeared online video from the accident scenewhich occurred on Tuesday evening at the 37th km of Porto Rafti Ave. in Markopoulo, which resulted in the death of a 50-year-old man, and from which it follows that he sacrificed himself to save a woman and her child who were crossing the road at that time.

Three other people were injured in the serious accident and were sent to Evangelislaus Hospital for treatment.

Shortly after 8 pm on September 19, on Porto Rafti Avenue, a woman and a child were crossing the road outside a pedestrian crossing while a car was traveling at high speed in the left lane. The man “with a whistle” flew literally a few centimeters from the mother leading the child by the hand. Apparently in shock, he, trying to prevent a collision, taxied into the oncoming lane. This led to a head-on collision with another car that was moving in the oncoming lane.

The driver was killed and four people in the car he collided with were injured. The wreckage of the colliding cars was found along the avenue at a great distance from the scene of the incident, as well as near nearby shops.

According to reports, the collision between the two vehicles was very violent and, in addition to ambulances, fire brigades had to be called in to extract the occupants of the two vehicles, one of which is in critical condition.

It is noteworthy that, judging by the video, the woman and child walked on as if nothing had happened, although they heard the sound of impact from the collision of cars.

The preliminary investigation into the accident continues.
