Another forgetful parent, this time in Portugal, completely forgot about his 10-month-old daughter locked in the car. He realized it only 8(!) hours later, when it was already too late.
The father took the child with him to drop him off at the nursery before work. At 8 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, a lecturer at the University of Lisbon parked his car at his place of work and went to his office. After about 7.5 hours, he realized his tragic mistake and called the police. writes CNN Greece.
Law enforcement officers found the child unconscious. Attempts to bring the little girl back to life were unsuccessful. According to international media reports, the police investigating the case believe that the child fell asleep in the car, which is why the father… forgot about the baby.
The mother arrived at the scene and both parents are receiving psychological support. The results of the autopsy have not been released by police as a criminal investigation is ongoing.

It all happened on Tuesday, May 9th. A six-month-old child remained in a closed car, fastened to a child seat in the back seat, for three hours (according to other sources – five hours) – the parent simply forgot him, as one forgets a briefcase or other thing. Only three hours later did he come to his senses and go to the car, finding his son unconscious. The baby was taken to Arta Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
One can only wonder how this can even happen. For nine months, parents anxiously await the birth of their baby. Then they wildly rejoice at his birth. And after just 6-10 months they are able to completely forget about its existence for a few hours. How many more tragedies must happen for defenseless babies to stop dying due to the fault of their careless “forgetful” parents.
