When visiting EU member countries, Russian citizens may lose not only their cars, but also their phones


When entering the countries of the European Union, Russians have the right to confiscate valuables, phones, equipment and cars.

On the new rules that came into force after the extension of sanctions EU v. Russia in July 2023, according to document of the European Commission.

It states that if Russian citizens enter with their own vehicles, then, according to EU standards, this will be considered illegal import. That is, such transport can be confiscated no matter for what purpose and for what period it is imported.

The ban also applies to the import of trailers or semi-trailers for the transportation of any cargo, as well as to the transportation and use of yachts. When entering the EU, Russian citizens may also have cosmetics, leather and fur products, cameras, suitcases, equipment, semi-precious and precious stones confiscated.
