The carnage, with six killed, took place on Monday afternoon in Artemis, near the seaside resort of Lutsa in northern Athens, about 35 km from the center of the Greek capital.
“Killer” shootout
All the victims, men of Albanian origin, were killed during a shootout between mafia clans. At the crime scene, police collected at least 25 shell casings from a 9mm handgun. According to preliminary information, the five victims were in a car – a black Ford with German license plates.
One of the victims is the driver, he tried to escape but was unsuccessful. He was found next to the car and died shortly before ambulances and police arrived.
Ambush
Police believe the attackers were ambushed. However, there is an opinion that the so-called “arrow” – a meeting to resolve disagreements between bandits. In any case, it is known that the victims were taken by surprise and shot in cold blood by several killers.
The militants fled in a black car and motorcycle
Police are looking for a black car, as well as a motorcycle, the driver of which was involved in the shootout, media reports. The bodies of the dead must be taken for autopsy and their identities must be established. The investigation is ongoing.
