Cyclone Daniel: death toll reaches 15

The death toll due to weather disasters currently stands at 15 people.

During the day, the body of a man was discovered in the Pagasitikos Gulf. This is a 42-year-old local resident who was on the list of missing persons. The man was reportedly carried away by the flow of the river (ρέμα της Αγίας Αικατερίνης).

Early on Sunday morning, two more bodies of missing people were discovered in Metamorfosi (Karditsa). We are talking about an 85-year-old mother and her 65-year-old son.

Earlier in the morning, the body of the 12th man killed was discovered in an open area between the settlements of Agios Dimitrios and Petrinos in Karditsa.

At the moment, two people are missing. We are talking about an Austrian couple vacationing in Pelion. In total, from Tuesday September 5 to September 9 inclusive, according to the fire service, 4,500 rescue operations took place – evacuations of people who were taken to safe places.
