The explosions occurred in the early morning at kebab shops of the same chain, located in Maroussi and Nea Ionia. Presumably, the owners of the network simply “didn’t want to pay the racketeers.”
According to preliminary information, unknown persons planted explosive devices in two public catering establishments. According to police, at around 4:30 am, an explosive device went off in a steakhouse located at the intersection of Egeu and Vironas streets in Maroussi. As a result, the glass/showcase was broken, chairs and tables were damaged, as well as the interior decoration of the establishment.
A few minutes later, at 4:55, another explosion occurred in the kebab shop of the same name, located at 146 Eleftheriou Venizelou Street in Nea Ionia. The steakhouse suffered similar damage.
In both cases, police found remains of Molotov cocktails and Molotov cocktails. An investigation is underway.
