Carry shopping by car, but in vain. What is the penalty for this?

Few people know that bringing groceries home after visiting the supermarket can end badly.

Using the car for the weekly “stuffing” of groceries at the supermarket and delivering bags stuffed to the eyeballs home is a habit for most of us.

However, who would have thought that the mistakes that we make when loading products into our car can be “paid dearly”. One of the most frequent – placing purchases in the cabin, not in the trunk.

But this can be extremely dangerous, because under certain conditions it can not only make it impossible to control the car, but also cause a more or less serious injury, or even end in an accident (with the involvement of other road users).

For example, during sudden braking, small objects and goods (tin cans, plastic children’s toys, etc.) can scatter around the cabin and fall under the pedals, as a result of which the driver will not be able to control the car.

In addition, in the event of a possible collision, objects inside the car are likely to scatter in all directions, thereby creating extremely dangerous conditions for the life and health of the driver and passengers.

So, an object weighing no more than 500 grams may be considered innocent by most, but in the event of a collision with a vehicle moving at a speed of 50 km / h, its real weight increases to almost 22 kilograms! And if the impact speed reaches 90 km/h, then the weight (packs of pasta 500 g) reaches… 70 kg.

Obviously no one wants get hit by an object weighing 22 or 70 kg, which can actually be “earned” from an object weighing no more than 500 grams.

This is called the “elephant effect”, when an innocent object can, in a possible collision, acquire the weight of … an elephant. This is a very good reason not to carry items inside your car.

However, it is not only the risk of injury that should force us to abandon the bad habit of placing objects (or shopping bags) in the back seat of a car. In this case, you can earn a fine.

According to the traffic rules of Greece, the loading of items into the car must be carried out in such a way that the view is not limited and the movement of the vehicle is not hindered.

The penalty that is provided for those drivers who violate the specific provision of Article 32 of the COC is 80 euros. And although it is small, there are still risks of accidents and injuries in the presence of loose objects in the car.
