The passage of vehicles will be free in both streams from today, Saturday 9 September, until Monday 6 a.m. at the toll plazas at the Rio-Antirio Bridge and at the Egnatia-Ionia Odos intersection.
This is the order of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras and his deputy Nikos Takhias. The goal is to reduce fare citizens and businesses after problems caused by the raging weather.
The decision was made in order to limit the cost of travel due to the suspension of traffic on the ΠΑΘΕ between Athens and Thessaloniki due to Cyclone Daniel, as well as taking into account the additional traffic congestion that will result from vehicles using this alternative route.
It is noted that the cost of GEFYRA SA is carried out by the state in accordance with the concession agreement. A new update will reportedly be released if any extension of this emergency measure is required. The concessionaire company keeps detailed records of vehicles crossing the bridge.
