A 41-year-old man, a resident of the island of Kos, was the victim of a scam. As established by law enforcement agencies, 4,700 euros were withdrawn from his account.
The incident took place on September 4, 2023. According to the Albanian, on August 29, 2023, an unknown person called his wife’s mobile phone and, under the pretext of activating the “market pass” application, withdrew from his account (for two withdrawals) 2900.98 euros and 1800.90 euros. That is a total of 4701.88 euros.
The materials of the case will be transferred to the prosecutor’s office of the first instance for further investigation. The authorities urge citizens, when they intend to issue cards or join (join) any program announced by the government, to contact the Citizens Service Center or the accounting office. Don’t trust strangers, especially those who offer “help” over the phone. Be vigilant and careful.
