Uber: staggering number of orders in Greece

According to the Uber app usage data by foreign tourists in Greece, the season will be great, bringing in significant revenue to the state treasury.

From April to July 2023, the number of tourists who opened the app on their mobile phone increased. Foreign visitors who booked a ride through the Uber app increased by 43% compared to April-July 2022.

Routes to and from the airport via Uber increased by 43% compared to the corresponding period last year, and movement within Athens increased by 30%. Foreigners who used Uber’s services (mostly) came from the US, UK and France.

In particular, the number of U.S. travelers who made a trip using the Uber app increased by 50% compared to the corresponding period in 2022, while the number of trips booked by visitors from the UK and France increased by 13%, respectively.

This year, Greece once again confirms its high position as a popular destination for foreign visitors, especially for Americans, who choose to spend their holidays in Europe for another year in a row.

“Uber is committed to being on top of its game and supporting tourism by providing affordable and safe passenger transportation options for both residents and visitors to our country,” said Sarita Varouche, CEO of Uber Greece.

“Today Uber provides a service through its application Uber Taxi in Athens, Thessaloniki, Santorini, Mykonos and Corfu. Passengers can easily log into the program (use the application on their mobile phone) and call a taxi, with guarantees that the desired trip will be carried out simply, quickly and comfortably.

Customers/clients can receive information about the estimated time of arrival of the taxi, its registration number, car model and all the necessary information about the driver. On the other hand, drivers can access the app and start accepting ride requests from any of Uber’s 124 million active users around the world, particularly in Greece,” the company said in a statement.
