11th day of fiery hell in Evros

Fires in Evros continue for the eleventh day, new outbreaks of fire have been recorded in the regions of Lefkimi, Leptokarya and Treis Vrises. Resumption of fires in Parnit and Rodopi.

Ground and air forces fight fire in the Dadia forest. 6 aircraft and 4 helicopters (from Cyprus) are involved in extinguishing the fire, and the ground forces of the European Civil Protection Mechanism are represented by the following forces:

1. The Czech Republic is participating with 16 firefighters and three vehicles;
2. Slovakia sent 39 firefighters and eight vehicles;
3. Serbia – 28 firefighters;
4. Albania (by intergovernmental agreement) – 46 firefighters and 5 vehicles are fighting the fire.

Parnit has a strong fire force that faces scattered active fires, mostly on the southwest side.

In Rhodope, firefighters are facing renewed fires in the areas of Kassitera and Kirka. Assistance is provided by 36 firefighters with five vehicles from Bulgaria. In Viotia, outbreaks are observed in the mountain range of the Steiri and Kyriaki regions.

Assistance is provided by a large number of volunteer firefighters, the forces of the General Staff of the National Defense and the Greek Police, writes CNN Greece. In many areas of the country, the risk of fire remains high.
