A few minutes ago, the meeting between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, who is on an official visit to Greece, ended at the Megaro Maximou residence.
The Prime Minister, in particular, said that Greece is on the side of the Ukrainians, mentioned Turkish revisionism and the Cyprus problem, as well as the history that links Greece and Ukraine. “We unreservedly condemn war crimes,” he said.
“Russia used natural gas as a weapon and recently terminated the grain agreement. The consequences of the war extend beyond our continent. More than 50% of the grain is exported on ships of Greek carriers. Greece applies all sanctions against Russia, we will help your European course, we have signed a joint statement regarding the Euro-Atlantic course of Ukraine. Our support will continue. The port of Alexandroupoli is a hub and will soon become a new gas hub. Your presence here is of special significance. The Western Balkans road initiative is being modernized. Greece will also be present in the titanic efforts to rebuild your country with a focus on Odessa”.
In turn, Vladimir Zelensky said: “It’s a great honor for me to be in Athens. Thank you for your attention to Ukraine. Today we discussed priorities with the Prime Minister. I said that very important priorities are to stop the invasion, we need Greece’s help in training our pilots on the F-16. Big Thank you”.
Then the President of Ukraine will meet with the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou. The President of Ukraine concluded his speech with the words: Thank you Greece, glory to Ukraine!
