In the period from August 1 to 15, 2023, 25,982 people used the right to free rest in the country’s tourist sites. At the same time, 2243 vouchers for traveling by ferry were used.
Recall that the program is called “Κοινωνικός τουρισμός”, vouchers are issued by the State Employment Service (DYPA). Evia was the most popular destination, followed by Halkidiki and Preveza. You can have a rest under the social tourism program 2023-2024 until June 30, 2024.
As noted by DYPA, this year is a particularly expanded and attractive program for beneficiaries, as it is characterized by the private participation of vacationers reduced to zero in terms of the cost of an overnight stay in a tourist site. Bbeneficiaries can spend up to six nights in a tourist accommodation that they choose from the DYPA ‘Supplier Register’ after their direct consultation with the service provider(s).
- On Leros, Lesvos, Chios, Kos and Evros Prefecture you can spend up to 10 nights without private participation (at no extra charge), while in the housing of the municipalities of Istiaia (Edipsos) and Mantoudi, Limni Ag. Anna (Northern Evia) and Samosa stay up to 12 nights for free.
- In addition to accommodation in tourist sites, ferry tickets are also subsidized. The participation of the general category of beneficiaries is 25%, those with many children – 20%. For the disabled, ferry tickets are provided free of charge.
