Exclusive footage from CNN: what and how the Crimean bridge was attacked in July (video)

CNN has published exclusive footage transmitted to the TV and radio company by the special services of Ukraine. They show new details and the moment of the July attack on the Crimean bridge by an experimental naval drone.

Vasily Malyuk, head of the SBU, told the publication about the new Sea Baby drone. This is the successful result of months of development that began immediately after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he says:

“Surface drones are a unique invention of the Security Service of Ukraine. None of the private companies has anything to do with this. With the help of these drones, we recently successfully hit the Crimean bridge, the Olengorsky Gornyak large landing ship and the SIG tanker.”

SBU footage of the July attack shows the pilot’s screen moments before Sea Baby delivered 850 kilograms of explosives to one of the bridge’s concrete pillars. Two video recordings from surveillance cameras were also provided, which recorded the moment when one drone fell on the automobile part of the bridge, and five minutes later, another drone exploded, hitting the railway part from the opposite side. Maluk promises:

“We are working on a number of new interesting operations, including in the Black Sea. I promise you, it will be exciting, especially for our enemies.”

The head of the SBU also claimed responsibility for the first attack on the bridge on October 8, but declined to provide details. But he said that the July attack was the result of many months of preparations for a joint operation with the Ukrainian Navy, which he led together with Admiral of the Navy Alexei Neizhpapa. IN interview CNN he said:

“At the final stage of preparation, we could not even think about sleeping or eating. We were completely focused on the operation. The last days were quite nervous. When the explosion happened, we were very happy and started to greet each other. It was a very emotional moment for all of us and our victory, which is sure to come soon.”

Malyuk noted that Ukraine’s Western partners showed interest in their activities and a desire to learn from experience, but stressed:

“They do not participate in our operations, they do not provide us with any equipment or anything else. These drones are produced in an underground production on the territory of Ukraine. The purposes that I have named are legitimate, according to Ukrainian and international law.”
