USA: MiG-23 crashes during Sunday air show


At approximately 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 13, a MiG-23 demonstrator aircraft crashed at the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show at the Yankee Aviation Museum.

A Soviet-made fighter jet that crashed while performing maneuvers crashed into the parking lot at the Waverly on the Lake apartments in Belleville, reports press office Detroit airport.

The pilot and passenger managed to eject, they survived and were not injured. As a result of the fall of the fighter, cars were damaged, there were no people in them. Residents of the residential complex and spectators of the air show were not injured. The cause of the incident is not known.

As a preventive measure, the pilot and passenger of the fighter were hospitalized. After the incident, the air show was cancelled. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.

The MiG-23 is a Soviet multirole fighter aircraft with variable wing configuration. The first flight of this type of machine took place in June 1967. In Kazakhstan, North Korea and some African countries, MiG-23 aircraft are still in operation.
