Kallithea: the underground passage at the intersection of Harokopu with Syngrou Avenue was commissioned

The Harokopou Underpass at its intersection with Syngrou Avenue is open to traffic after maintenance and renovation work carried out by the Attica Region. In addition to its current aesthetic, it is also a safer crossing of a busy street.

The updated transition has been transformed: the floor covering “shines”, conventional lamps have been replaced with anti-vandal LED lighting. In addition, the structural elements of the crossing were painted, and in a more general context, the electromechanical installations available there, as well as pumping stations, were “patched up”.

By ensuring the safe passage of pedestrians, vehicular traffic will also be significantly facilitated, as it is expected that traffic lights for drivers will burn longer, since pedestrian passage will be mostly underground.

At the same time, in a broader context, all underpasses under the jurisdiction of the Attic region are maintained and cleaned almost daily, and large-scale works are being carried out to improve both their image and infrastructure.

G. Patoulis, the governor of the region, who was satisfied with the progress of Attica’s road network modernization projects, said among other things: “A few months ago, the Harokopou crossing was completely destroyed by fire. Today we are handing it over to the citizens safe, modern and functional, having completed important renovation and improvement projects.

Our goal is to continue moving in the same direction with other underpasses, always in collaboration with our artists and collaborators, to promote creativity and culture, and to emphasize collectivity and unity. Together we can achieve something great.” It is noted that this transition is the fourth one in Attica, taken as a “sample”.
