Russia says Crimean bridge attack was orchestrated by British MI6

The Russians believe the attack on the abutments of the Crimean Bridge was carried out using a British-built REMUS 600 underwater robot that can swim at depths of up to 600 meters, is controlled by a laptop computer and can carry enough explosives to cause serious damage.

The cost of this device is about 1 million dollars. Due to the ease of control of the robot from a laptop and the ability to descend to great depths, it was probably left in the Black Sea by a merchant ship, or rather a ship posing as a merchant.

Due to the properties of the robot, the launch was carried out from a civilian ship in the Black Sea, it has a flight duration of about 70 hours at a speed of up to 5 knots. With increased cargo capacity, it has a range of 286 nautical miles, almost 500 km.

REMUS 600 is a 240 kg machine measuring 3.25 m in length and 320 mm in diameter. Depending on the equipment, the REMUS 600 costs between $500,000 and a million dollars.

The REMUS series of remote environmental monitoring devices was originally intended for scientific and civil purposes and was manufactured by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. REMUS was developed in the USA 20 years ago, but 11 countries have robots of this line.

Moscow believes that the operation was organized by the British MI6, although the Ukrainian SBU publicly claimed responsibility for it.

Note that in social networks last year appeared video of the work of British specialists with the REMUS 600 drone. In the commentary, the authors of the publication wrote that the footage shows the training of the Ukrainian military to use these drones. Meanwhile, all links to the original source have been removed, and the video is also unavailable on YouTube, since the account associated with it has been deleted.

As emphasized in Moscow, this was one of the side effects of the already invalid “grain agreement”and this open maritime humanitarian corridor was often used by Kiev to attack Sevastopol and all of Crimea.

In other words, the “grain corridor” became a hole through which Ukraine was able to send a combat underwater drone with explosives to the most protected place, according to Russia’s statements.
