One of the support measures announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis as part of policy statements is the extension of the social food program to help the poor.
With regard to the Market Pass, two questions need to be cleared up initially: firstly, the duration of the renewal, and secondly, to whom it will be available.
First scenario provides for the extension of the Market Pass subsidy until October 31, i.e. for three months. Second concerns five month extensionthat is, until December 31, 2023.
Another important question that remains to be clarified is will there be new beneficiaries as a result of the updated submission of applications through vouchers.gov.gr – either from citizens who were previously denied, or from all interested parties in general.
A competent representative of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance said that it’s not decided yet because “it will be seen based on the tax returns of citizens.”
Please note that any new Market Pass application process will be based on the most recent tax returns (based on 2022 income).
The only thing that can be said for certain is that existing beneficiaries will not need to submit a new application. As you know, assistance is provided to one household.
