NIKI leader: “Abortions are not based on medical or legal logic”

As soon as the leader of the newly elected religious party “ΝΙΚΗ” (Victory) took the oath in the Greek parliament, he revealed to the public his views on social issues: abortion and upbringing in the spirit of purity, and promised to help strengthen the family.

“Our faith is our life, theology teacher Dimitris Natsios told ANT1 on Monday morning. – The right to abortion is not based on any medical or legal logic. As a democratic, patriotic Nika movement, we believe that absolutely no one has the right to harm a fetus.”

He said that schoolchildren should be given a different education, namely, family promotion and upbringing in the spirit of purity.” “We have 102 sections in elementary school textbooks, in old reading books (today we call them language books). There is not a single section devoted to the institution of the family,” he says.

When journalists reacted, he repeated that we should teach elementary school children about cleanliness. Instead of learning cooking recipes, we should learn the texts of the great masters of our literature, and concluded:

“Are you worried about the word ‘purity’? If you study the text of Polemis, Elytis, Drosinus, Calvos, then all these are texts of purity.”

Concerning the question “family education”he said that the family needs to be developed, “so that the children learn the institution of the family, and also that the villages are filled with children again.”

When asked if he recognizes women’s right to self-determination, he replied that “these discussions are very difficult, but from the very conception there is a human being, there is a human right, the unborn child, this is our point of view,” he said.

Natsios said that he was not bothered when a woman wears trousers, and disagreed with the statements of the metropolitan, who said that women who dress like men are unpleasant to him.

As for the relationship between NIKI and the far-right party “Spartans”, which also support “family, homeland and faith” (a slogan the junta is credited with creating), the party leader said that his party had nothing to do with extreme views.

Party “Niki” won 10 seats in the Greek Parliament.
