From Russia to a European country without visas

Already this autumn, Russians will be able to travel to one of the European countries without visas, while using direct flights.

We are talking about the polar archipelago of Svalbard, which belongs to Norway. According to Ildar Neverov, general director of the Arktikugol Trust, which mines coal in the archipelago, the development of a concept for tourist facilities in the village of Barentsburg has already begun. There is a Russian base there, and the Grumant Arctic Tourism Center, which is part of Arktikugol, is developing and preparing the route, the TourDom portal reports.

Elena Medvedeva, head of the tour operator “Rainbow of the North”, told the details to the portal. She noted that it is not yet clear where the planes will fly to Svalbard. There is a possibility that Murmansk will become the starting point for tourists from Russia. She also stressed that direct flights to the archipelago would greatly simplify the life of tourists, since they would not need to apply for a Schengen visa. Svalbard itself has a visa-free regime, but now you can get there only through Norway.

The report of the portal states that the launch of direct flights will have a positive effect on the cost of tours. Today, the budget option for an eight-day sightseeing trip costs 170 thousand rubles (approximately 1800 euros) per person, not counting transportation costs, writes BB.LV.
