Bangladeshi killer’s lawyer has resigned. What’s New in the Investigation of Anastasia’s Death

Expressing support for the family of the murdered girl from Poland, Anastasia Rubinskaya, lawyer Vasilis Drosos refused to defend the 32-year-old accused of manslaughter and rape.

He was appointed ex officio as a lawyer, but resigned from his duties after the new defendant was charged with rape and murder. However, he stated that, undoubtedly, every accused, regardless of the gravity of the deed, has the right to defense – this is an example of legal culture, writes kosnews24.gr:

“I sympathize with the family, as well as with the entire Greek society, especially in such a small place as our island. I do not agree with my ex officio appointment for a new prosecution for murder and rape.”

The lawyer’s statement says:

“First of all, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family, wishing them courage and strength in connection with this tragic event that life has in store for them. Next, I would like to thank all those who honored me with my ex officio appointment to speak on behalf of the accused in investigation for robbery.

I hereby inform the media to forgive me if I was rude in my attitude, I never had such an intention, but it was not possible to provide them with any additional information (remember that the charge was robbery) regarding the facts and evidence , since the most important thing is the establishment of the truth and the presumption of innocence.

In order to avoid false impressions and in accordance with the interpretation of the provisions of the Lawyers’ Code, every defendant, regardless of the gravity of the offense committed by him, has the right to a defense, which is an example of legal culture. The lawyer is an officer of justice and must serve him. In the exercise of his profession, he must be and feel independent. In his general professional activity and his social coexistence, he must avoid everything that damages his prestige and dignity, which are bestowed and imposed on him by his mission in the justice system and his role in society.

I sympathize with the family, as well as with the entire Greek society, especially in such a small place as our island. I do not accept my appointment ex officio in the part of the newly initiated criminal case charged with murder and rape.

With gratitude and respect for the institution of justice and humanism.”

Meanwhile, nNew video disproves what the Bangladeshi man claims in his testimony about what happened on that fateful night. In his testimony, the man said that he took the girl to the place where she had a date with her boyfriend and immediately after that he returned home, fell down and fell asleep.

However, the video captures the moment when he returns to his house, but three minutes later he leaves again, while the judicial authorities assure that these are the same three minutes while he killed the girl. He then returns to the house to take the bag and drop it at the spot where the body was found. That is, the video confirms the opinion of the investigating authorities that the murder of the girl took place on the street, namely at the beginning of this swamp, in which the body of a 27-year-old Polish woman was found.

Evidence from mobile phone antennas is also a catalyst, as the defendant will have to give a clear explanation that, due to the time in question, when the girl was killed, he seems to deactivate your mobile datawhich is done only by those who do not want to be identified where they were at that time.

In particular, the man searched on Google how to remove the GPS track showing his movements from his mobile phone. After he succeeded in erasing data from his mobile phone, he took Anastasia’s phone and did the same. Employees ΕΛΑΣ in the forensic laboratory opened mobile phones both and found all the data that the defendant was trying to delete.

DNA, which was collected from the girl’s body, could probably point to the killer, but since the body was found in a state of severe decomposition, this turned out to be impossible. In particular, the DNA collected from under Anastasia’s nails was not enough to identify the perpetrator, and the DNA collected from the perpetrator did not help the investigation, as it was collected six days after the crime, writes CNN Greece.
