Renunciation of Ukrainian citizenship

In accordance with the new Russian law, which came into force on June 17, in Russia, mainly in the occupied territories, they began to collect applications “On unwillingness to be a citizen of Ukraine.”

The Law “On the Peculiarities of the Legal Status of Citizens of the Russian Federation Having Ukrainian Citizenship”, that is, concerning Ukrainians who have received a Russian passport, obliges them to officially renounce Ukrainian citizenship.

To do this, you can fill out an application form on the website of “Gosuslugi” or personally come to any department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and apply for “unwillingness to be a citizen of Ukraine.”

It is understood that such a document will demonstrate the voluntariness of the inhabitants of the “new territories” to become citizens of Russia. Although Ukraine claims that it has no legal force.

Edition “Country” writesthat residents of the “DPR” actively visit the departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and have already submitted 30,000 applications. Moscow predicts that there will be at least two million. In the meantime, the new law has already entered into force, and “ex-Ukrainians” are strongly advised “to refrain from actions aimed at realizing the rights of a citizen of Ukraine,” that is, from using a passport and other Ukrainian documents.

And these are not just recommendations – the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia will conduct appropriate checks. If a violation is discovered, the citizen may lose his Russian passport and fall under the hood of the regional FSB. And this means problems when crossing the Russian border and the existence of a basis for supervision.
