A three-judge juvenile court in Athens found eight teenage boys guilty of gang raping a 15-year-old classmate in the western Athens suburb of Ilion in December 2022.
The court acquitted four girls who were tried along with their peers and who witnessed bullying.
At a closed session, the court recognized eight teenagers guilty in rape, complicity in rape and pornography. He sentenced three of the defendants to three years of probation and imposed unspecified corrective measures on the other five.
According to the case file, eight minors raped the boy repeatedly over the course of two months in an abandoned house in the western Athens suburb of Ilion and recorded the abuse on video, sharing the footage with other students at the same school.
During the trial, all eight denied the cruelty of their actions and claimed that what their classmate went through was just a “sexual experiment”.
