Due to the undermining of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the British economy may suffer

The destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station will negatively affect the cost of food in the UK, economists say.

As quoted newspaper The Telegraph, Chief Economist at the British Food Distribution Institute James Walton stated:

“We are likely to see global markets looking for alternative sources of supply. This could well push back the timing of a return to more normal food prices.”

The expert believes that in the near future consumers in Britain will be able to feel the rise in food prices, as the world is likely to change the distribution of agricultural products.

He added that the emergency at the Kakhovka dam affected at least 500,000 hectares of agricultural land, the newspaper writes.
