Valuable coins worth more than 1 million euros were stolen from a numismatic store

In Kifissia, the “theft of the century” took place: criminals took out valuables worth more than 1,000,000 euros from the store using the rififi method.

As it became known, on Sunday 11/06, a rare coin store in the northern district of Athens, Kifissia, became the object of robbers. The intruders, having turned off the alarm system, entered the premises from the underground garage, having made a hole in the wall (riffi method). When they reached the target, they found the safe, opened it and took the coins and money.

According to the owner, inside the safe were coins, the value of which ranges from 800,000 to 1,500,000 euros. However, there were also very rare specimens, the assessment of which was not made.

The criminals had complete information, since they had tools with them to open the safe. The break-in was discovered by store employees on Monday morning, 12/06, who called the police.

Neighbors testified that “they noticed some movement on Sunday evening.” They said there were three perpetrators. A police team is on the scene collecting DNA and fingerprints. At the same time, CCTV footage is being monitored. Police are looking for a vehicle believed to be related to the case.
