US angry at Greek shipowners for helping Russia

Robin Brooks, a senior official at the IFF (Institute of International Finance, who is of course close to the Democrats), is unhappy with the Greek shipowners, accusing them of “prolonging the war in Ukraine” because they transport Russian oil, which means Russia has money to finance their military operations!

According to Brooks, Russia is exporting more oil in the first half of 23 than ever before (blue), arguing that this is only possible thanks to tankers owned by Greece (red), which – since Russia intervened in the affairs of Ukraine-transport Russian oil in large quantities.

Greek ships account for 50% of the total tanker capacity worldwide. According to an IFF employee, the Greek “shipping oligarchs” (that’s how he describes them) offered their tankers to help Russia after the start of the war with Ukraine, claiming that before the invasion, Greek ships accounted for 33% of the total capacity of tankers from Russian ports. Since then, this number has risen to 50%. This, according to Brooks, means that “Putin’s war machine is heavily dependent on Greek ships”…

He even claims that without the Greek ships there would be no war in Ukraine! In fact, Mr. Brooks hides the fact that the first sanctions packages, which were used by some for profit, were inspired by the Americans. And, most importantly, he hides the fact that American oil companies in the first year of the war recorded profits of over $200 billion from buying Russian oil! If what Mr. Brooks says is true, then so are the American oil companies and, of course, the Biden administration, which had these “bright ideas.”

Robin Brooks, in fact, leaves “thorns” on the Mitsotakis government, because based on his writings, the well-known head of the PEGA committee investigating wiretapping in Greece, Sophie de Veld wrote: “Interestingly, this explains why Greece opposes new anti-Russian sanctions” . Apparently she is referring to Hungary and Greece, who want some of their companies to be removed from Ukraine’s “black list” and are delaying giving the green light to a new comprehensive package.

European Union countries are still trying to negotiate new sanctions against Russia over its interference in Ukraine, while some member states continue to negotiate how strict they should be.
