A 36-year-old woman was stabbed 14 times by her fiancé, who attempted suicide after injuring her and setting their apartment on fire.
Both victim and perpetrator are hospitalized in Heraklion, Crete, where the brutal incident took place on Sunday evening. The woman received injuries to the chest, back and upper limbs.
With reference to the testimonies of neighbors, a local publication cretalive.gr reported that between the future (the wedding, most likely, there will be no more) spouses who lived together in the Koroni Magara area, there was a loud quarrel that lasted several hours. At 9.30 pm on Sunday, the woman left the house covered in blood and fell, losing consciousness. Neighbors saw this and called the police. Reportedly, the perpetrator also started a fire in the house, but his father, who lives in an apartment on the floor above, managed to put out the fire.
The woman owns a shop in the tourist area of Heraklion and the man is an electrical engineer.
The victim was admitted to intensive care on Monday and is still in the intensive care unit, her condition is critical due to serious damage to one of her lungs. As for the man, he underwent surgery and is being treated at the general surgery clinic of the hospital under police protection.
