Over the past two days, Greek police have arrested eight more people involved in the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Kolonos.
Seven men, 2 Greeks and 5 foreigners, aged between 20 and 52, were arrested on Thursday and brought before the prosecutor on Friday. Another arrest was made on Friday morning.
Suspects arrested include a 48-year-old Greek and his 20-year-old son, who reportedly raped the girl on multiple occasions.
The other suspects are two Pakistanis aged 52 and 36, three Bangladeshis aged 48, 44 and 28, and a 47-year-old Albanian who was found to have pornographic material with a girl.
Most of the suspects lived or ran small businesses within a one kilometer radius of the girl’s home, the report said. Mega TV Friday afternoon…. The men and the girl met in their cars.
The number of detainees has risen to 30, including the child’s mother, whose role in pimping is still unclear, nine months after the case went public in October 2022 and led to the arrest of a 53-year-old local store owner who raped and forced girl to engage in prostitution from the spring of 2022.
When on Friday the arrested were taken to the prosecutor, one of them, as reportedstuck out his tongue to taunt the waiting reporters.
The latest arrests on Thursday and Friday followed additional testimony from the victim before Easter.
“More Arrests Coming”
According to the victim’s mother’s lawyer, more arrests are expected.
Recall that the girl’s nightmare was revealed in October 2022, when it became known that 53-year-old H.M., a store manager in Kolonos, raped and acted as a pimp for a minor.
The rapists were interested in photos of a 12-year-old girl posted by a 53-year-old pimp.
Of the 29 arrested, 21 were left in custody because they did not convince the investigator in charge of the case, one was released under restrictive conditions, and 7 newly arrested will be taken to the investigator, who will decide their fate.
“In her last statement, the girl gave the names of some of the arrested, and for others, she even gave their mobile phone numbers,” a security police officer told the newspaper ethnos.gr.
“This case requires very delicate handling because the psychology of a child is very fragile and new evidence is constantly emerging from the analysis of online applications that H.M. used on confiscated mobile phones and computers”the police officer said.
“The investigation will be deepened and all those who abused the child will be held accountable,” he added.
According to initial media reports last October, the girl was forced to have sexual contact with more than 200 men.
