A 61-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged murder of his 86-year-old mother. The 61-year-old killed his elderly mother at her home in Kozani, western Macedonia on Monday, according to police.
He called 911, claiming to have found his mother passed out.
However, doctors found that the woman was already dead, and her body had numerous marks of beatings.
The victim was bedridden, mother and son lived together.
The man was arrested but has yet to confess to the murder. He was taken to the prosecutor, but he refused to testify.
The man was known to the local police for his aggressive behavior caused by excessive drinking. He was also drunk on Monday.
While police await an autopsy report, the man faces criminal charges of manslaughter, local media reported.
