Crete: 4.3 magnitude earthquake

On Saturday afternoon (6/5) in Crete, in the maritime zone southwest of Chania, an earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale was recorded.

According to the Geodynamic Institute of the Athens Observatory, the source was located at a depth of 19 kilometers.

The epicenter of the earthquake in Crete was located 41 km northwest of Paleochora (Chania).

Recall that in autumn 2021, as a result of an earthquake in Crete with a magnitude of 5.8, dozens of houses, temples were destroyed, one person also died. The devastating earthquake that occurred on September 27, 2021 was felt not only in Heraklion, but throughout the island, as well as on others, such as Santorini. In addition, intense aftershocks were recorded.

On the opinion of experts that Greece is expected in the future by a strong earthquake that could wipe the country off the face of the Earth, wrote “Athenian News”.
