An earthquake shook Zakynthos with a force of 4.4 on the Richter scale

An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck Zakynthos at 7:53 am on Monday. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the sea area, 78 kilometers west/southwest of Zakynthos.

After that, several more collapses occurred on the beach after earthquakes. After lengthy disputes, the authorities came to the decision to close the beach for disembarking tourists. Now passenger boats can only approach Navagio Bay at a certain distance, which is estimated at about 40 meters from the coast. At the same time, swimming in the waters of the bay will be allowed, but also subject to the above distance, and walking along the coast is completely prohibited.

Beach closed March 16 after a new assessment of the situation with the alleged landslides. ΟΑΣΠ President Prof. Efthymios Lekkas warns that a collapse at the site could be catastrophic and talks about the risks that led to such an unpopular decision that provoked a strong reaction. He argues that the danger is clear:
