Food prices continue to rise, despite the government’s announcement of lower inflation.
Products such as dairy products, cheese, detergents, stationery, oils, in May 2023 are sold more expensive by almost 20% compared to the previous two months.
While prices for agricultural products on the world market are steadily falling, prices on the Greek counters are still rising. Consumer advocates say this is gross speculation.
In a previous report, INKA President Mr. Georgios Lechuritis stated that “every day we see an increase in the price of products, whether they are called oils, legumes or cold cuts and cheeses.”
Estimated prices for some products (February-May):
- Vegetable oil (1 litre): €3.60 – €4.83
- Olive oil (1 liter): €8.30 – €9.85
- Feta (1kg): €14.90 – €16.25
- Detergents: €11.88 – €14.85
- Diapers: €24.95 – €27.90.
