Emergency weather forecast: thunderstorm, showers and hail

The National Weather Service has released an emergency weather forecast for the near future. Meteorologists warn the public

According to meteorologist Theodoros Kolidas, low atmospheric pressure and a cyclone approaching from the west will affect mainly the western central and northern regions. Heavy rain and gale force winds are expected. The weather will deteriorate starting from the second half of Tuesday, May 2 and continue on Wednesday and Thursday, May 3 and 4, respectively.

According to meteo.gr, on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, a cyclone will come to our country. Heavy rains, storms and strong winds are expected in the Ionian Sea. Despite the predominance of southerly winds, air temperature will remain approximately 3-4°C below seasonal values.

May 2 – Rain will fall in Western Greece and the Peloponnese. From the afternoon and especially in the evening hours of Tuesday 2/5, according to the latest forecast data from the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr, the weather is expected to worsen with severe local storms in the Ionian Islands, Western Greece and the Peloponnese. Showers are expected in Thessaly, Central Greece and Macedonia. Mud rains will occur in the southernmost regions (due to the presence of a large amount of African dust in the atmosphere).

According to the Meteorological Service of the National Observatory of Athens, precipitation is classified as category 2 (moderate).
