Lunar eclipse May 5, 2023 – a rare case of a penumbral eclipse, when almost the entire disk of the moon will pass within the penumbra of the earthand therefore the decrease in the brightness of the Moon will be more noticeable than usual.

The moon during the eclipse is in the constellation Libra and will pass through the southern part of the earth’s penumbra.

Today, May 5, from 18:14 to 22:31, the Moon will pass through the penumbra of the Earth. So it will happen penumbral lunar eclipse. Its peak will be observed at 20:20 Greek time.

Lunar eclipses are relatively short, lasting only a few hours from start to finish. The May eclipse will be the first of two we expect in 2023. The next lunar eclipse will happen October 28, 2023 year and will be a partial eclipse that will be visible mainly in Africa, Europe and Asia.
