“He is an amazing person and journalist. He did a great deal of cultural work in Kallithea. He created the Monday Theater, recruits troupes, and every Monday they play there. Yesterday was his birthday. We are all in shock … out of nowhere, for a moment, and suddenly his life is in danger. The surgery went well from what I’ve learned and I pray to God that everything goes well.”

According to the medical report, Mr. Laskaridis was taken to the emergency department of the hospital “G. Gennimatas” with numerous injuries, in a coma, with brain contusions and fractures of the cervical and thoracic spine, as well as fractures of the ribs. He underwent surgery on his head, as he had a hematoma, his condition is critical.

Doctors watching him say that he will have a very difficult recovery, while due to the severity of the head injury, they do not yet know what consequences this will have in his later life.

After the fall, the newspaper writes, Lazaros Laskaridis remained in place due to an ambulance delay for an hour and a half. The place where he fell was difficult for firefighters to reach, and the ambulance staff and those present helped to pull him out. The firemen’s suggestion to tie straps to the railing to raise the stretcher was immediately rejected as everyone saw that the railing could collapse completely due to corrosion and condition. Therefore, it was decided to carry the stretcher in an upright position up the narrow internal staircase leading to the first floor.
