A network of female prostitution exposed in Santorini: how meetings were scheduled

The Thira Police Unit dismantled a human trafficking ring operating in Santorini. In total, 7 people were arrested in the case, including 5 members of a criminal organization. In addition, 3 more attackers are wanted.

In particular, the leader of the criminal organization was the owner of an illegal sex agency, which was advertised through the site, his duties included identifying and recruiting women, whose photos he posted on the site with an alias and location. The second criminal and the wife of the leader of the organization arranged “meetings” with potential clients, site visitors, determining the place and time of the meeting, as well as a monetary reward.

Another member of the criminal organization took care of the placement of sex slaves and kept in touch with the hotels in which they stayed. The fourth acted as a ferryman to and from sex dates and was paid by the respective client. The sixth, a hotel owner, provided “visiting rooms” to victims of sexual exploitation.

Three women were identified as working as prostitutes. The fee varied depending on the place, time and special wishes of the client. During the investigation, 4680 euros and 205 British pounds sterling, 5 mobile phones and a notebook “accounting” book, in which dates and amounts are recorded, were found and confiscated.

The arrested, against whom a criminal case has been initiated, have been brought to the competent bodies of the prosecutor’s office, and the investigation to determine the extent of their criminal activities is ongoing.
