Thessaloniki authorities have arrested two members of an international network that imported large amounts of cannabis from Albania.
After a thorough investigation and coordinated action, the Narcotics Sub-Department Police officers achieved a significant blow to the organized schemes of drug trafficking in large quantities. In particular, two foreign members of the gang were detained: a 42-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman. A criminal case has been opened against them for violating the Law on Drugs and participating in a criminal organization.
Yesterday (03/17/2023) in the Stavropolis area, during a check carried out on a ΙΧΕ car driven by a 42-year-old man, 34 bundles of cannabis with a total weight of 35 kg and 692 grams were found.
During a search conducted in his house, as well as in the house of a woman in the same area, the following were found and seized:
• 34 bales of hemp with a total weight of 38 kg and 117 grams,
• electronic balance,
• packaging material,
• cash in the amount of 820 euros,
• 2 mobile phones that were used for illegal activities. In addition, two cars used by the criminal to transport drugs were confiscated.
As it turned out as a result of the investigation, those arrested were members of an international network that imported a large amount of cannabis from Albania, and were engaged in obtaining, transporting, hiding and further marketing it.
The arrested were taken to the competent prosecutor’s office.
