March 16 strike: schools closed on Thursday

Schools will remain closed on Thursday March 16 as OLME takes part in the general strike.

A statement released by OLME says that “we are participating en masse in the 24-hour general strike on Thursday March 16” and calls on teachers to attend the rally to be held at Klatmonos Square at 11:00 am, as well as in those cities where workers live education systems.

OLME Announcement: “The OLME Board of Directors is calling for massive participation in the 24-hour general strike on Thursday March 16, 2023 to join the people demand an end to the privatization policy and the recognition of responsibility for the Tempi disaster. We welcome the participation of all employees, staff of educational institutions and activists of the student movement, who previously showed solidarity by supporting demonstrations and rallies with their presence. We urge everyone to keep fighting. The disaster at Tempi will not be forgotten! We are fighting to uncover the true causes of the tragedy that our people are experiencing, as well as to punish all those responsible, and not hide behind “human” mistakes. We have no right to remain silent! On the contrary, from the very first moment we took to the streets and fought to ensure that the perpetrators paid for their deeds and that another such tragedy was not allowed.”

Employees of ΔΟΕ, along with professors and teachers, will take part in the strike announced by ΑΔΕΔΥ on Thursday, March 16th.
