Russians and Ukrainians are not welcome in Bali because of "bad behavior"

Bali is going to cancel the simplified visa regime for travelers from Ukraine and Russia. The reason is reports of “bad” behavior and possible criminal activity by tourists from these two countries.

How informs The Jakarta Post, Governor of Bali Vayan Koster proposed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights to cancel visas on arrival for visitors from Ukraine and the Russian Federation. At a briefing last Sunday, he said:

“I wrote a letter to the ministries with a request to cancel the visa regime for Russians and Ukrainians.”

The governor explained that the reason for making such an offer was complaints and reports of Russian and Ukrainian tourists abusing their visas, in a popular world tourist destination, they use them to find work:

“Why these two countries? They are now at war, so they come to Bali not only as tourists, but also to work.”

At the briefing, Wayan Koster also announced, referring to the data of the immigration service of Bali, the deportation of 31 tourists from Russia and Ukraine. In the period from January to March 2023, a total of 43,622 Russians arrived in Bali, while for the whole of 2022, the immigration department recorded the arrival of 59,854 Russian citizens in Bali.

Recently, netizens in Bali have been posting videos of tourists, presumably from the Russian Federation and Ukraine, behaving rudely with police officers who stop them for violating traffic rules.
