The police of Achaia launched an investigation into the theft of a large amount of olive oil, amounting to about eight tons. In this case, an aggravated theft case was initiated against five men and one woman, the full details of which have been established.
According to the police, from January 8 to February 9, the defendants committed three thefts at two warehouses and a farm located in the area of the municipality of Erymantos Achaia, seizing about eight tons of olive oil worth 40,000 euros, olive tree seedlings, empty oil containers , as well as a certain amount of fertilizer in the amount of 1000 euros.
The defendants, as a result of the police investigation, were found to have used a used truck, which they had rented from a car rental company in Patras, as a means of committing the thefts. Attackers visited two olive factories and stole from the warehouse 2174 kg and 3236 kg of olive oil, respectively.
According to police, some of the oil was delivered (and sold) to the home of the accused woman, a resident of the West Achaia area, at various times. The case brought against the defendants will be transferred to the prosecutor of first instance of Patras.
