“U.S. citizens residing in or traveling in Russia should leave immediately. Exercise extreme caution due to the risk of false arrests. Do not travel to Russia.”

At the same time, published on Sunday by the US Embassy in Russia recommendations to Americans to leave Russia and refrain from further travel have been in effect for several months. They were simply repeated with some additions, State Department spokesman Ned Price said at a briefing:

“These are not new recommendations. We have been warning Americans for several months not to visit Russia, and those in Russia have been warned to leave immediately. citizenship in connection with mobilization, in connection with the special regime in the border areas with Ukraine and changes in Russian legislation.

Such calls have already been made more than once, the last time was in September, after the Russian president announced a partial mobilization. The diplomatic mission says:

“Russian intelligence agencies arrest US citizens on trumped-up charges, segregate US citizens in Russia for detention and prosecution, deny them fair and transparent treatment, convict them in secret trials or without providing credible evidence.”

Canada recommends that its citizens leave Belarus immediately due to the risk of selective enforcement of local laws and a Russo-Ukrainian war. The Canadian Embassy in Poland is limited in its ability to provide assistance. Citizens of Canada are advised to leave Belarus by commercial transport.
