Named 5 countries that can survive the nuclear winter

Scientists at the University of Otago have named countries that will be able to survive a hypothetical nuclear winter.

New Zealand scientists list five countries that can continue to produce food in a nuclear winter, the results of their study published in the journal Risk Analysis, tells BB.LV.

During the simulation, the researchers studied scenarios of a supervolcano eruption, an asteroid impact, or a sharp decrease in natural light in the event of a nuclear war in the Northern Hemisphere. They found that a number of island nations – New Zealand, Australia, Iceland, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands – will be able to survive despite lower temperatures and reduced sunlight.
