Twitter EU wants to ‘squeeze’ TikTok: ‘We will apply sanctions if you don’t follow our rules’

After the “too much freedom” attack on Twitter, EU is also trying to “bend” the Chinese TikTok, since it cannot be controlled from Washington and Brussels.

TikTok must comply with the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) well before Sept. 1, EU Commissioner Thierry Breton told Internet giant Shou Zi Chew CEO.

“We will not hesitate to take the full range of sanctions to protect our citizens if the checks do not show full compliance,” Breton said. “The younger the public, the greater the responsibility. and sometimes even life-threatening content.”

In response, TikTok has stated that it is committed to the DSA rules while attempting to publicize its efforts to comply with all EU statutes such as the GDPR data protection rules and disinformation code of practice. “The safety of our users is paramount,” Caroline Greer, TikTok’s director of public policy and government affairs, tweeted.
