As for traffic rules, it is noted that even the gesture “μούτζωμα” (open palm towards the offender), if an annoyed driver decides to indulge in the “classic … Greek” greeting “” in relation to other drivers or passers-by, is punishable by law. In particular, “μούτζωμα” entails the imposition of a monetary fine, as well as more severe penalties, up to the deprivation of a driver’s license. In particular, an administrative fine amounts to 100 euros, but there is also a deprivation of rights for 10 days.

Of course, in addition to “μούτζωμα”, any other “obscene gestures” are prohibited according to the traffic rules. So the next time you get behind the wheel and feel like you’re ready to let your frustrations out, think twice.
