Russian President Vladimir Putin said today that any direct conflict between NATO forces and Russia would lead to a “global catastrophe.”
“I hope that those who say this will have the sense not to come up with such initiatives,” Putin said during a press conference in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. “I don’t see the need” to negotiate with Biden.
Earlier, Vladimir Putin said that he sees “no need” for negotiations with his American counterpart Joe Biden. He also added that he has not yet decided whether he will participate in the G-20 summit in Bali in Indonesia next month.
Asked if he regrets the war in Ukraine, the Russian president replied “no” and said that what Russia is doing is the right thing to do. Putin said that Russia’s goal is not the destruction of Ukraine.
The Kremlin leader said that no further military conscription is planned in Russia. He said the “partial draft” announced last month, which the defense secretary said aims to recruit 300,000 troops, will be completed within the next two weeks.
