Wild boars are on the loose in Nafpaktia

A curious sight was captured by a passerby in one of the villages of Nafpaktia on Wednesday evening, May 8: two small boars were frolicking on the roadway.

According to a video transmitted to Nafpaktianews and published by it, wild animals maneuvered freely between cars and played on the side of the road in the grass.

Residents in the area have reportedly started noticing more and more wild boars roaming around the city. Environmentalists are sounding the alarm – the animal population has recently increased. Let us remind you: wild animals in an urban environment are no joke! The number of reports received by authorities in 2023 is almost four times higher than in 2022. We remind you to avoid encounters with wild boars:

• maintain cleanliness and order in the courtyards of private houses,
• do not throw away food in places not intended for this purpose,
• garbage cans near households should be closed so that wild boar cannot get into them and smell the food.

When it comes to encountering a wild boar:

• if you notice a wild boar (and if it hasn’t noticed you), move away without making sudden movements,
• do not run away, as this may provoke the animal to attack,
• Do not pet, feed or approach a wild boar, which, while giving the impression of a domesticated animal, can still be dangerous.
