Personal doctor: the platform opens from September 1

From tomorrow, the “Personal Doctor” platform will be open for registration of both doctors and citizens from all over Greece.

The site was opened on August 1st for the registration of persons residing in most Greek regions, and from tomorrow it will also be open for adults insured in the Attica metropolitan region and the South Aegean Islands.

The delay is due to the small number of private doctors in the regions (especially in Attica, which is the most populous region in the country) who have contracted with EOPYY to become personal doctors.

According to the Ministry of Health, to date, 3,200 doctors and more than 2 million citizens across the country have registered in the Personal Doctor system.

It should be noted that all persons who have reached the age of 16 can register in the “Personal Doctor” system. The doctor is chosen freely, regardless of place of residence or place of residence, from among all registered in the updated lists of personal doctors specializing in general/family medicine or internal medicine.

The Personal Doctor system will be fully operational in early 2023.

Registration procedure
An appointment with a personal doctor is made electronically either by the citizen himself through the citizen registration platform, or by the administrative and other staff of state medical institutions providing PHC services, or by personal doctors.

A citizen makes an appointment with a personal doctor in the following ways:

  • Through the personal physician registration platform (https://ehealth.gov.gr/p-rv/p), where entry is made using taxisnet codes and AMCA citizen.
  • In person at a medical facility or with a personal doctor, with your AMCA and, for simple demonstration, an identity document (for example, an identity card) or a photocopy of it.
  • All applications from citizens are accepted until the legal limit of 2,000 registered citizens per doctor is reached. In the case of private doctors working under a contract with EOPYY private doctors, citizens’ applications for registration are accepted in proportion to the established limit chosen by each doctor at the time of the contract.

Two million people have already chosen a personal doctor using the new system.

Citizens who already registered with a family doctor, are considered registered with a personal doctor for all relevant rights and obligations, and no further action is required from them.

Each person has the right to register only one personal doctor. Transfer to another personal doctor is allowed once a year, which starts from the date of registration of a citizen. In the event of a change of administrative district during the year, a citizen is entitled to one additional transfer.

Uninsured persons have the opportunity, upon request, to enroll in personal doctoremployed by the National Health Service (Ε.Ο.Π.Υ.Υ.) if they cannot be covered personal doctor in government medical institutions.

Citizens wishing to register with a personal physician Π.Φ.Υ. in areas classified as problematic and sparsely populated, can register for care by a personal doctor in the health part of the region of residence.
