Diagnostic centers announced a 3-day strike

Diagnostic centers, laboratories, polyclinics and doctors of clinical laboratories have declared a three-day strike throughout Greece.

The strike will leave National Health Organization (EOPY) insured patients without diagnostic tests and screening in the private health sector, while public hospitals are “perpetually” overwhelmed.

The three-day strike will last from Monday 18 July to Wednesday 20 July 2022. The action is a protest against EOPY’s long-term cuts in its compensation.

The coordinating body of primary health care organizations enlisted the support of trade union organizations of doctors across the country, demanding that all tests performed on patients be reimbursed by EOPY.

It should be noted that EOPY has a refund system, according to which, if the cost of diagnostic tests exceeds the budgeted costs, money is withdrawn from diagnostic laboratories and centers.

These amounts, deducted from diagnostic centers and physicians, are added to the mandatory rebates that the medical world must pay (rebate) EOPY, resulting in a “cut” of even 50% of industry revenue.

“The financial situation of the departments providing primary health care services is at a tragic level, as they submit a monthly application to EOPY for their payment, based on the volume of examinations they have carried out on the insured organization. Instead of full payment of these costs, cuts of 50% are introduced,” the organizers of the strike emphasized, according to the medical news website. healthreport.gr .

The medical world is constantly demanding compensation for every examination carried out, ”the Coordinating Council of Primary Health Care Institutions said in a three-day strike. Doctors of diagnostic laboratories, polyclinics and clinical laboratories require:

1) Writing off the artificial debt of previous years from the rebate and cloback, because this is money that is owed, and EOPYY asks for it back.

2) Suspension of the advance collection of offset from current payments, in order to increase liquidity and offset in 2022, as it will be formed after the final formation of the envisaged annual limit and submissions to be included in 120 contributions.

It should be recalled that EOPY introduced in June, a new system of MRI and CT scans carried out in private centers, the owners of which objected to it on the grounds of a discount and a refund.

Insured and uninsured patients rush to public hospitals for examinations, however, you can make an appointment no earlier than in a month or two, at least, and this does not guarantee that the examination will not be canceled.
