Greek-born Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston and Kristin Hahn are producing a remake of the 1980 classic 9 to 5 for 20th Century Studios.
The film is currently in development, according to Variety. Screenwriter Diablo Cody is working on the final version of the script, which is still being kept secret.
It is noted that the original film, starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, tells the story of three workers who join forces against their picky employer, played by Dabney Coleman.
Judy, Doralee and Violet, working under a boring boss, have a common problem – how to at least temporarily get rid of their unloved boss and finally breathe freely? And they find a way out, and a very unusual one, by placing him under house arrest, but at the same time announcing his death to the public. Given freedom of action, enterprising secretaries are establishing a completely new order in the workplace.
The film was a huge success, grossing over $103 million at the box office. This was followed by a series of the same name, released on ABC, and in 2009, a stage adaptation with new songs by the legendary Parton took place on Broadway.
